SheetWhiz has a new logo! We slowly rolled it out over the holidays and it’s currently live. This means when you log in to Google Sheets, you’ll notice a new SheetWhiz button (recently updated with some new shortcuts!), and, when you visit our Chrome store listing, you’ll see a new icon in the upper left corner.
When thinking of what icon we wanted to represent our brand, we wanted to maintain our core essence: we are a spreadsheet company. With this idea in mind, we decided a spreadsheet cell would be the building block of our logo as it is the building block of so many analyses we run when in a spreadsheet. And so, we took the cell dimensions from a spreadsheet our co-founder David was working on at the time and this shape, a long rectangle, formed the basis of our logo rebranding brainstorming session
From there we really wanted to convey that SheetWhiz helps you get more done in Google Sheets. That’s why the final icon is an icon we nicknamed the “steps to success”. It’s made out of three spreadsheet cells layered on each other in a diagonal fashion to look like steps
The middle cell that’s highlighted represents where users are before using SheetWhiz - you likely are a heavy spreadsheet user and know how to use Google Sheets relatively well, but you haven’t taken that next step forward to really maximize your time in the spreadsheet. With SheetWhiz, you’ll elevate your Sheets game and reach the top step, aka “success”!
Once we finalized the “steps to success” we moved onto the font. We decided to keep everything green as green is synonymous with a spreadsheet (and is also David's favorite color). We then selected a font that gave us a sense of productivity, efficiency, and professionalism. You have no idea how long it took us to find the right “S” shape - design is in the details!
We’re very proud of how our logo turned out and believe it sets us up to continue enabling users to get more done in Google Sheets
