  • Why am I getting an error when I try to run trace precedents or trace dependents?
This answer assumes you are using Google Chrome as your browser, as we do not support any other browser. Additionally, it assumes you are able to install SheetWhiz and log into the app, but receive the following error when you try to run trace precedents or trace dependents: Permissions Not Granted - OAuth2 request failed: Service responded with error: 'Service has been disabled for this account.' The reason for this is because your Google Workspace account has restricted access to Google Drive and you or your IT team will need to designate SheetWhiz as a "Trusted" app. You can verify whether your Workspace has restricted access to Google Drive by logging into the Admin Console of your Google Workspace Account. Note, you will not be able to do this unless you are an administrator. Click Security > Access and data control > API Controls then click Manage Google Services when on the page. If Google Drive has been restricted, you will see "Restricted" in the Access column in the Drive services row. This is a fine and likely prudent security policy, but it does mean that you will need to designate SheetWhiz as a "Trusted" app in order to run trace precedents and trace dependents. We need access to Google Drive in order to properly calculate your precedents and dependents and return them to you (and only you). Note, there is no mechanism in place for anyone at SheetWhiz to view, store or otherwise interact with any of your data in your sheets. You can learn more about our security and compliance policies and our commitment to protecting your information at https://www.sheetwhiz.com/security In order to designate SheetWhiz as a "Trusted" app, you will need to again go to Security > Access and data control > API Controls but now click Manage Third-Party App Access You will see a list of "Configured apps". The SheetWhiz app should be there. If it isn't, you can add it by clicking on "Add app" and looking us up by our name "SheetWhiz" or by our Client ID: 509120768285-e3vcat8ls615dtba8b7u76am7v1onn92.apps.googleusercontent.com Our app will be a Verified app. Verified apps have been reviewed by Google to ensure compliance with certain security and privacy requirements. Learn more about verified apps here Once the app has been added, hover over the row and click "Change access" From there, you will choose who to configure access for. After hitting "Next", you will be asked what type of access SheetWhiz should have. Click "Trusted" and then click "Next" in the lower right corner. Learn more about app access here On the next page, click "Change Access" to save your changes. Once done, you should refresh the SheetWhiz app either by logging out and then logging back into the tool or by removing it and reinstalling it from the Chrome Web Store Run trace precedents or dependents again. If you are still receiving an error contact us by emailing david@sheetwhiz.com or submitting a form via our Contact Us page
  • Why am I getting "Your admin has blocked this item" when trying to install SheetWhiz?
This answer addresses the below error that you receive when trying to install the SheetWhiz Chrome extension Your admin has blocked this item (ID: bfncmfmdadhimlnpeecppaimgmeeppan) The reason for the error is because your device is managed by an organization that has likely disabled installation of any non-authorized extensions. You can verify this by clicking on the three dots in the Google Chrome browser and if you scroll to the bottom, you should see something along the lines of “Managed by your organization”. In this case, it says “Managed by sheetwhiz.com” but on a PC, it says “Managed by your organization” Now that this is confirmed, you’ll need to get in contact with the administrator of your Google Workspace policy to get them to add SheetWhiz to their allowlist (and if it isn’t, contact us via chat or at info@sheetwhiz.com for additional support). Note, there may be additional security questions for us to answer before your team is willing to do this. If this is the case, please send them our way and we can help with this. You can also answer many of these questions yourself by visiting https://www.sheetwhiz.com/security In order for your admin to add us to their allowlist: 1. In your Google Admin console (at admin.google.com)... 2. Go to Menu Devices > Chrome > Apps & extensions > Users & browsers. If you signed up for Chrome Browser Cloud Management, go to Menu Chrome browser > Apps & extensions > Users & browsers 3. Select who you want to assign SheetWhiz to - the organization, a group that you've defined or an individual user. Here we're going with the whole organization because we want everyone at SheetWhiz to be able to use the tool 4. Look in the lower right corner for a "+" button. Hover over it and then click on the lowest small circle that appears after you hover over the "+" button. This button will have the Chrome logo and will read "Add from Chrome Web Store" when you hover over it. This means you are about to add an extension from the Chrome Web Store (i.e., SheetWhiz) to your allowlist 5. The Chrome Web Store will pop up. Put in our extension ID in the Search bar in the upper left. Our ID is: bfncmfmdadhimlnpeecppaimgmeeppan A direct link to our tool is here 6. Click on the SheetWhiz Chrome extension and hit "Select" in the upper right corner. This will add the extension to the allowlist 7. That's it! SheetWhiz is now added to your allowlist and the users who the policy applies to should now be able to access the tool

  • I'm pressing the shortcuts but nothing is triggering - why is this?
First, make sure you're pressing the rights keys relating to a shortcut. You can do this by clicking the SheetWhiz logo in the upper right corner of your spreadsheet to bring up the SheetWhiz menu. If you don't see the logo, it's because your Google Workspace has not enabled SheetWhiz access and you should contact us to resolve. You can do this by emailing david@sheetwhiz.com Assuming you are able to click on the logo to bring up the menu bar, you should see a list of shortcuts that you can try. For shortcuts that begin with "Control" (i.e., "Ctrl" on a PC or "^" on a Mac), press all keys in the order listed and hold down until all keys have been pressed. For example, to insert a row using our default shortcuts, you would press "Control", then "Shift", then "+", holding all keys down For shortcuts starting with "Alt" on a PC or "Option" on a Mac, press and release all keys in the order listed. For example, if you are auto-fitting columns, you would hit "Alt" or "Option" (depending if on a PC or a Mac), release the key, then press "H". Release "H" then press "O". Release "O" then press "I". You should press the keys consecutively within a couple seconds, otherwise the shortcut will not work.
